OUTCOME- FOCUSED REVIEWS

In early 2009 a group of disabled people, family carers and people from eight councils worked together to develop a new way to carry out reviews. This work was supported by the Putting People First Team and the review approach is called ‘outcome-focused reviews. This updates earlier work carried out by the Department of Health to capture the learning from the Department of Health individual budget pilot.

REVIEWING PROGRESS

This paper describes two review processes. Working / Not Working and Four Plus Two.

A PERSON CENTRED INDIVIDUAL BUDGET REVIEW PROCESS

Individual Budgets pilot sites have been exploring opportunities to streamline ‘assessment’ processes across up to six funding streams1. Where possible, sites have maximised opportunities to reduce inefficiencies and improve customer experience through reducing duplication and aligning processes. This development has created the opportunity to explore and begin to identify where possibilities may exist to create a joined-up ‘review’ process across the six funding streams, for local councils involved in the pilot project.
